What's Cookin' Good Lookin'?
The Course
Making your own creams, balm and gels.
Most commercially available skin care products are full of ingredients which may not be the best for your skin.
You have gone to a lot of trouble to produce a remedy which is good for you, it is only reasonable that you should create a carrier for it that is beneficial to your skin as well.
In this fun two day workshop you will discover how to create creams, balms and gels from natural ingredients. You will get hands on experience and also get to take home the lovely products you create. (rrp $60)
Overview
- Harmful Ingredients (what we are trying to avoid and why)
- Recipes for creams, ointments and balms
- Waxes and Vegetable oils – which ones do we use? Why not use mineral oil?
- Waters and floral waters
- Gelling Agents – what’s a gel? When do I use them?
- Emulsifiers – what are they? How do I use them?
- Preservatives – how do I stop my oils from going rancid and my water from growing bacteria – yurghh!
- Equipment – what do I need and how do I work it?
- Kits of raw materials and containers will be made available to course participants
A full manual is supplied as part of the course
Pre-requisite
Once you have completed the "Essential Aromatherapy – An Introduction" course, you are eligible to enrol in "What’s cookin’, good-lookin’?".
This course is designed to show you how to make all the lovely preparations we discussed in the introduction course. With your new knowledge about what essential oils to use, we now show you how to make beautiful creams, gels, lotions and balms noble enough to contain your formulations.
